We now consider the 2nd feature of Wesleys understanding of a lively and real faith. This 2nd feature is not unique to Wesley since it is what an orthodox and lively faith must consist.
The feature of "assensus" is the feature that follows "notitia." With "notitia" being the feature of having some knowledge or understanding of what is to be believed, "assensus" is personal acceptance or agreement of what is now understood or believed.
It makes sense that after one has knowledge of what is to be believed that it comes to the point of whether one agrees or accepts as true and viable. This agreement is not simply conceptual or abstract but personal and not simply agreement in one's mind only.
REFLECT: How has your knowledge of God's truth moved to a personal agreemnet? Can you list 2 of the most important truths you not only know but personally agree? Celebrate these truths and your agreement.
